How to start on OnlyFans from scratch

Opening an OnlyFans account takes an afternoon. Getting someone to pay for it takes a lot longer. Here’s what you need before you start and the steps that make your first weeks count.
What you need
First, you have to enjoy creating content. If you’re only in it for the money, it shows in every photo and every video, and Fans don’t get hooked.
Second, time. Plan on 2 to 3 hours a day just for creating content, before social media and messages.
The gear is simple:
- A phone that records in 4K. You don’t need a camera.
- An LED ring light with a tripod. Good light improves a photo more than a new phone does.
- Someone to film you. Some shots don’t work with the phone sitting on the tripod.
The steps
1. Create and verify your account
Sign up on OnlyFans and verify your identity. It asks for an ID to check that you’re an adult. Until you’re verified, you can’t get paid.
2. Have a bank account in your name
OnlyFans pays you into a bank account in your name. If you don’t have one, open it before you start so your first payout doesn’t get stuck.
3. Open a new, separate Instagram
Create an Instagram just for your Creator account, with no link to your personal profile. That’s where the bolder content goes. If Instagram restricts it or bans it, your main profile is untouched.
4. Build a content bank
Don’t open the account with an empty Vault. Have 15 to 20 posts ready for OnlyFans and 10 to 15 reels for Instagram before you launch. That margin lets you post steadily in the first weeks instead of filming in a rush every day.
5. Choose who you’re talking to
Decide what kind of Fan you want and which platforms they’re on. Your content, your tone and where you post all depend on it. Try to please everyone and you stand out to no one.
6. Master one social platform
Don’t open Instagram, TikTok, X and Reddit at once. Pick the platform where your Audience is, learn how it works and post there until it brings you Fans every week. Then add the next one. Four platforms run halfway bring in less than one run well.
