What is customer lifetime value (CLV) on OnlyFans?

Updated

CLV stands for customer lifetime value. On OnlyFans it’s everything a Fan brings you while they’re subscribed. It adds up the subscription, every PPV they buy and every tip they leave.

It’s the number that tells you whether your account is doing well. Your Fan count says how many people came in. CLV says what each one is worth.

How to calculate it

A Fan’s CLV is what they spend per month multiplied by the months they stay.

A Fan pays $10 for the subscription and spends another $40 a month on PPV and tips. They spend $50 a month. If they stay 6 months, their CLV is $300. OnlyFans keeps 20% of everything you earn, so of that $300 you keep $240.

Not every Fan is worth the same

Two Fans can pay the same subscription and bring you very different amounts. One comes in, buys nothing and leaves in the second month. Another buys PPV every week, leaves tips and stays for almost a year.

Fan A $10 a month × 2 months

$20

Fan B $100 a month × 8 months

$800

The same $10 subscription, and one Fan is worth 40 times the other.

In almost every account, a few Fans like B bring in most of the income. Treating them like everyone else leaves money on the table.

More Fans isn’t always more money

An account with 1,000 Fans and an average CLV of $10 earns $10,000. One with 200 Fans and an average CLV of $100 earns $20,000. It has five times fewer Fans and earns twice as much.

That’s why the subscription is mostly there to filter who gets in, as we explain in how much to charge for your OnlyFans subscription. Filling the account with curious people who never buy raises your Fan count and lowers your CLV.

How to raise CLV

There are two ways. Each Fan spends more per month, or stays more months.

Monthly spend goes up with Chatting. A Chatter with good Scripts talks with the Fan and offers the PPV they want to see, at the right moment and at a price they’ll pay.

Months go up when the Fan feels looked after. If they write and nobody answers for hours, they don’t renew. If someone is always there, they stay. That’s what Chatters in Shifts covering all 24 hours are for.

Push either one too hard and they pull against each other. A Fan who gets squeezed spends a lot one month and cancels the next. Watching CLV, and not just what comes in this week, avoids that mistake.

How to measure it

For your average CLV, divide what you earn in a month by your Fans that month. That’s the average monthly spend. Multiply it by the months a Fan stays on average.

Work it out every so often. If it goes up, what you’re doing works. If it goes down, something in the price or the Chatting is off.
